16. Tourism Pressure    

Zandvoort is especially visited by holidaymakers and visitors who come for sea, peace and space. Studies prove that 60 % of the tourists come for peace, cycling and walking. Most stays take place in the holiday park, on camping sites and in mobile homes and hotels. In total there are 5 places of residence in Zandvoort with a variety of small-scale to large areas, such as holiday park Centerpark. Zandvoort attracts a variety of visitors: youngsters, sports people, nature lovers and families who as a rule return every year. Long-term vacation takes place especially in the high season. The shorter holidays (two to four days) take place especially in the early and late season. The holiday park and most of the hotels are open all through the year. 

  

     
     
17. Leisure & Recreation    

In the years to come the town of Zandvoort will devote itself to sustainability, in which quality always will be leading. The next ten years the municipality wants to make the seaside resort more attractive by placing quality in front.

 

It also wants to make a quality move in providing lodging facilities. On top of that the municipality is aware of its unique location in two nature reserves.   

     
     
18. Business Involvement    

The town of Zandvoort involves the entrepreneurs and the inhabitants in the realisation of sustainable developments and nature conservation. The business community together with the municipality and nature organisations dedicates itself to improve the image of Zandvoort.

 

The Green-Key, the Blue Flags, the participation in Quality-Coast and the participation in the KIMO organisation indicate, however much the municipality is attached to sustainability, nature and wants to improve itself permanently.

 
     
19. Community Participation    

The inhabitants of Zandvoort are closely involved in the Zandvoort society. Participation is above national average. The number of volunteers is large as well; more than 30 % of the population does volunteer work. Also politically people are very much involved.

 
At hearings and information evenings very much interest is shown by the inhabitants. Nevertheless the local policy wants to develop the cooperation with the society even more in order to create a further increasing support for its political decision process. 
 
     
20. Health & Safety    

The town of Zandvoort lies in the middle of nature reserves and on the North Sea and with that as regards location and services is one of the better seaside resorts of the Netherlands. There are no big industries in the municipality, whereas air and water are of good quality. The local authority of Zandvoort has established in its policy that it wants to guarantee the quality and improve the quality wherever there are possibilities.


 
It aims at a clean and reliable environment where its guests love to return to. Extra attention is paid to the surrounding nature reserves in relation to the accessibility of these areas.
