| 6. Blue Flags & Beaches |
On the side of the North Sea lies a 10 km clean and white beach. The beaches are divided by the municipality into categories: family beach, beach with textile and one beach without textile. The town of Zandvoort feels very strongly about safety. Basically it is allowed to start swimming from all beaches. It is recommended to start swimming from the guarded beaches. These beaches are indicated by signs. At the local Tourist Information Office more information about this is available. The rescue-team supervises all beaches and has an aid station on the northern and southern part of the beach. Besides near the promenade a medical post has been equipped for first-aid.

| 7. Water Management |
Zandvoort has no drinking-water supply of its own. The drinking-water is delivered from the Castricum dunes by PWN. Here also are the water basins and is the drinking-water purification plant situated. The exploitation is done by PWN. PWN guarantees a good and healthy drinking-water supply. The drinking-water is coming from the IJsselmeer, from where it is taken into the dunes at great depth. Afterwards, after a certain stay, the water is pumped upwards and treated subsequently.
The town’s waste water is purified in the sewage treatment plant (RWZI) in Haarlem. Sewage treatment is managed by the Hoogheemraadschap Rijnland. Rain water drainage is disconnected from the domestic drainage during renovation and new housing development. Rain water is returned to nature as much as possible by way of filtration.
